No-News-Flash – Technorati Ranking Does Not Correlate With Traffic

Since Google launched their new tool showing the relatively popularity of websites I’ve hardly been able to resist comparing competing sites. For those interested SearchEngineLand hasn’t quite over taken SearchEngineWatch but is getting close and no matter what some stats think there ASK in the is no where near Yahoo or MSN.

But after playing for a while I got wondering if the top five blog by popularity on Technorati corresponded with the traffic Google Trends thought they had.

The short answer is no. They are reversed apart from boingboing & problogger. I know Google’s figure are far from fool proof but they would seem to suggest from this quick test that popularity on Technorati doesn’t nesc mean you’re getting the punters through the door.
