I’ve been told recently that including an email address on a contact page is a bad idea because of the volume of spam you would expect from your address being picked up automatically.
Do you agree with this?
Do the benefits of including an email address outweigh the negative aspects mentioned above, and are there any benefits for Google etc by listing an email address?

This is a really useful article – especially the Hcard Microformatting part. I think the general consensus should be to use this regardless of whether it is adopted by all search engines because 1. it won’t do any harm. 2. It formats the information in a standard compliant way and 3. It can only help to bring the information to the attention of the SE’s

Great article – the part where you say companies should use local area numbers rather than 0800 numbers is quite true. We have seen a significant increase in customers purchasing virtual local area phone numbers over 0800 numbers in the last few months.
