Our PR dept. uses Meltwater News for tracking online articles and compares 'share of voice' against our competitors.

Are you suggesting we could measure 'share of links' using Yahoo! site explorer?

It'll depend entirely on your situation but normally I suggest take maybe your five biggest competitors, and compare their Yahoo Site Explorer numbers.

I agree it's flawed but it's probably equally flawed for all of you, hopefully giving a useful number.

Interesting post Kelvin. I completely agree that Yahoo! site explorer is flawed and not a good measure - how do you measure 'What’s your share of the links within your market-place?'
