Reflections on our Search Innovation Seminar
A few weeks ago, we had our first client event, our Search Innovation Seminar and Tennis Afternoon. I was really excited about organising it and I’ve left my post for a few weeks so that I could get some feedback from our clients who came as well as to reflect on the day. I was really pleased with the morning’s seminar, and although the weather forced us to miss our afternoon entertainment at the Aegon International, I’m quite sure that we enjoyed ourselves in spite of it.
In the morning, we had seven sessions on innovation in search. Five of our SV team spoke, and we had two guest speakers, Scott McLean from Speed Communications in London and Jake Hird, from Econsultancy. The sessions covered broad topics like the future of search and how PR and Search come together as well as more specific presentations on the use of voucher codes, Call Beacon and getting the maximum benefit from PPC campaigns.
In the afternoon, after a fantastic lunch at the Towner Art Gallery, we took advantage of the Grand Hotel being so close to us in Eastbourne and had a lovely afternoon getting to know our clients, playing a bit of snooker and hoping to catch a glimpse of one of the tennis stars staying in the hotel. I hope that for our clients, it was a great day of getting to know us better and hopefully making some lasting contacts with each other.
For me, it was great to have members of our team sharing their knowledge (some for the first time!) and really explaining what we’re doing on a daily basis in an environment where everyone could ask questions and hopefully learn something they didn’t know before. It was also really nice for me to get to meet our clients, considering that I sent them a lot of email! I’m really looking forward to the next one!
