Inter-agency Football Tournament 2012
As part of our on-going CSR activity we have pledged to raise £1600 for the NSPCC. Our first big event which was held last week was the hugely successful Interagency Football tournament.
Organised by the lovely James, we all enjoyed some great football action and the sun even shone throughout! The event was held at the White Hawke pitches and we had seven teams involved so big thanks to LeapFrogg, Icrossing, ACM, DC Storm, Friday Media Group and PropellerNet who all came kitted out and helped us raise over £250.
Well done to our tournament winners Friday Media Group who won the competition by beating LeapFrogg on penalties. Friday Media Group were strong throughout winning all of their group games. They arguably had the player of the tournament within their ranks with their goalkeeper making crucial saves at key points of the tournament whilst even scoring a penalty in the final (It does have to be noted that their striker wasn’t bad either!)
The SV boys made a strong start winning their first game 8-0 against DC Storm and looking strong but a crushing 4-1 defeat to Friday Media Group left us needing a win in the final group game to progress. Fortunately the boys held strong and came through the final group game, winning 2-0.
In the other group, Leapfrogg made it through to the semi-finals to face our very own SV boys by beating both Icrossing and ACM and therefore finishing top of the group. The semi-final proved to be a very tight and cagey affair with Leapfrogg coming out 1-0 victors. Icrossing also progressed to the semi’s by finishing second in the group and their reward was a semi-final with Friday Media Group. Again it was a tight affair with Friday Media Group coming through the first of two penalty shootouts for them.
The final was another close game, with two teams battling it out in the summer heat. The game ended 1-1 and in the end had to be decided by the Russian roulette of the game, Penalties. Friday Media Group came out on top and it has to be said were probably deserved winners. Each of the teams in the tournament made a valiant effort and it was a day that we thoroughly enjoyed hosting. A big thank you to all that entered
Our next fundraising event will be a Brighton Digital week pub quiz which will be held on Thursday 27th – 8pm at The Caxton Arms.
