‘The Uniform@Work Project’

As part of our on-going CSR activity, the SV girls are excited to announce that they will soon we taking part in a new project to help us reach our fundraising total for the NSPCC.

During September and October, the girls of SiteVisibility will be ditching their normal attire and donning a little black dress for a whole month in the name of charity for the ‘Uniform @ Work’ project. They will be wearing their dresses for one month to promote sustainable fashion, show you don’t need to spend a fortune on what you wear to look and to raise some well-earned cash for the NSPCC.

Our ‘Uniform @ Work’ project is inspired by the 2009 Uniform Project, established by Sheena Matheiken, who wore one little black dress for 365 days and reinvented her look every day to highlight issues around over consumption in the fashion industry by redefining her look using only recycled, donated or reused items to raise funds for Akanksha Foundation, which helps provide education for underprivileged children.

Sheena managed to look amazing and totally different everyday through accessorising and mixing and matching of what she wore. She also got lots of lovely donations of all sorts of items to jazz up her look every day. Watch her talking about her experience at TedxDubai – it’s a brilliant and inspiring video!

We will be wearing black dresses and accessorising them to try and make ourselves look different everyday so we need some help with donations. Please if anyone has any hat/ jackets/ waistcoats/ scarves/ mad jewellery or ANYTHING we could use then please can they beg, borrow or steal them for September and October so they can put together a ‘dressing up’ box to use each day..

They will be updating our blog regularly so you can see what they look like every day (although they will try to mix it up!) and if you are kind enough to donate some itemsthey might even give you a mention.

You can follow the girls’ fashion adventures (or Faux Pas) here http://uniformatwork.tumblr.com/ and you can also contact the team 01273 733433 or get in touch tweeting to @sitevisibility using the hash tag #uniformatwork.

Alternatively, you can just skip this part and make a donation to our JustGiving account http://www.justgiving.com/sitevisibilityjustgiving   for which we will be eternally grateful!
