I had that moment. Just a couple of weeks ago. I thought I was going crazy.
I was just staring at the laptop. Eyes heavy, pinning all my hopes on coffee providing the solution to my problem.
Nothing was being recorded in Google Analytics. No Events. No Goals. Nada.
Why is this not working?! It was all good just a week ago…
My colleagues have had that moment too.
I noticed a trend in my responses to them.
When you’re working between multiple Google Analytics Properties, Views and GTM Containers, it’s usually not the big stuff that stops Events or Goals from working.
It’s the small stuff. And I don’t want you to sweat the small stuff.
So I created this “Have you checked this?” checklist for when Event and Goal tracking in Google Analytics is not working.
It’s handy for when:
• You’re adding new Goals and Events
• You’re using GTM for Event Tracking
• You’re upgrading to Universal Analytics via GTM
• You’ve just migrated to a new site
I’ve reclaimed my sanity. I’ve got so much time I don’t know what to do with it all. I sleep easier.
