SiteVisibility donates computer and IT equipment to developing countries
Donation by digital marketing company supports Computer Aid International as it aims to reduce poverty in developing countries
SiteVisibility, the leading search and social media company, can today announce that it has donated a selection of IT equipment to UK IT charity, Computer Aid International – the world’s largest provider of refurbished PCs to not-for-profit organisations in the developing world. The donation, which includes laptops and monitors, supports Computer Aid International as it aims to reduce poverty through ICT solutions in developing countries.
In March 2012, Computer Aid International announced that it had shipped 200,000 PCs and laptops to schools, hospitals and charities in developing countries since it was established in 1998. Each PC has been donated by an individual, business or organisation based in the UK. The PCs are now being used by not-for-profit organisations to help improve education, health and agricultural production in very poor and rural communities across 112 countries.
SiteVisibility’s PCs have been sent to schools in Kenya enabling pupils at the schools to learn essential IT skills, enhance their studies, and improve their school lives.
Jason Woodford, SiteVisibility Chief Executive comments: “I speak for everyone at SiteVisibility when I say we feel honoured knowing our computer and IT donation can change the lives of many throughout developing countries. Given the nature of our work and the daily use of computers, you can quite easily take for granted what you have sitting in front of you, so it comes with great pride that the items we have provided Computer Aid International will change the lives of many for the better.”
Alexia Ward at Computer Aid International comments: “Computer Aid aims to reduce poverty through the provision of IT to schools, hospitals and charities across Africa and Latin America. We rely on donations from individuals and organisations such as SiteVisibility to continue our work and we are very grateful for their support. The PCs donated by SiteVisibility will be used by children in Kenya, many of whom might not otherwise have access to IT, to learn the skills necessary to gain access to further education and increase their future employment prospects”.
